Motion for a Resolution

C. whereas the Expo themes are primarily directed to agriculture sector which remains a keystone for the EU economy, notwithstanding that agricultural exports represent two third of European total external trade, that the EU remains the first agricultural importer in the world and that the EU food industry generates an annual turnover of almost EUR 1 trillion, employing more than 4 million people;

C. whereas the Expo themes are primarily directed to agriculture sector which remains a keystone for the EU economy, notwithstanding that agricultural exports represent two third of European total external trade, that the EU remains the first agricultural importer in the world and that the EU food industry generates an annual turnover of almost EUR 1 trillion, employing more than 4 million people, yet plays a pivotal role in causing such environmental problems as climate change, water shortages, eutrophication, deforestation and erosion both in the European Union and in regions from which the Union imports;
